We love pandal hopping during Durga Puja. Even in Bengaluru, we visit at least 18-20 pandals. Apart from the usual biggies, we try to explore a few smaller or not-so-popular pujos in Bangalore, mostly in search of authentic Bengali foods at reasonable prices. While doing so, we stumbled upon a hidden gem this year. The only high-concept theme puja in Bengaluru!!! Kengeri Sarbojonin Durgotsav was organized by the Ektara Socio-Cultural Organisation. The theme was “Durga – The Rising”.It showcases the plights of women of different ages, communities, and different places and how they try to fight back and demand justice.The idols were made in a tribal setup. The contrast that 2 young boys (representing Kartik and Ganesh) playing happily while 2 young girls (representing Lakshmi and Saraswati) getting disturbed by a man while playing shows the sad reality of today's world. Maa Durga has risen to protect her children.Sadly, there were just 10 more people when we visited it on Nabami afternoon. I understand the location is far from the center of the city. The theme, pandal decoration deserves a decent amount of footfall.
