“Pujor ar matro kota din baki” – ‘only a few days left for the Puja’. A simple Bengali phrase, yet it strikes a different chord in every Bengali’s heart, no matter where in the world they live. Durga Puja, a 5-day-long worship of Goddess Durga, is beyond a religious event for Bengalis – it is a celebration of homecoming, community, food, culture, and time spent with loved ones.
Bengaluru is home to a large Bengali community and hosts Durga Puja celebrations across the city. But with pandals spread from Koramangala and Electronic City to Hebbal, Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, and Kengeri, deciding where to go can be confusing—especially when venues change every year. Here is your list of places to celebrate Durga Puja in Bangalore in 2026.

Where can I see Durga Puja in Bangalore? Can I go for Durga Puja pandal hopping in Bangalore? Can I offer Pushpanjali and do a “boron” on Dashami in Bangalore? Where can I eat ‘bhog’? Will there be any cultural programmes, book stalls near the pandals? Will there be food stalls outside the pandals where we can eat quintessential Bengali street foods just like we do in West Bengal? I am non-Bengali; can I just experience Durga Puja in Bengaluru for the first time? I hear so many of them. This 2026 guide brings together 50+ Durga Puja pandals in Bangalore, organised area-wise, with my top 15 favourite Durga Puja pandals in Bangalore for visitors with limited time. I have included the latest venues, Google Maps, organiser information, and dates! Everything is verified.

Durga Puja and Navratri: Different Traditions, Shared Devotion
Goddess Durga is worshipped in different forms and traditions in different parts of India.
Durga Puja coincides with Navratri, but the two have evolved through different regional customs. In many parts of India, Navratri is observed through fasting, vegetarian food, garba, dandiya, and the worship of different forms of the Goddess Durga over nine nights. Dussehra, the 10th day, celebrates Sri Ram defeating Ravan, the triumph of good over evil.
Bengalis call Goddess Durga Maa (mother) Durga and consider her as a daughter. While she lives her happily ever after with Mahadev, her husband, and their children (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik and Ganesh) on Mount Kailas, she visits her home with her children every year on Shasti, the 6th day of Navaratri. Before returning, she establishes good over evil on earth. We celebrate her victory over Mahishasur and make her promise, “aashe bochor abar hobe”, which translates to “come back next year”. Doesn’t it feel familiar to every family waiting for a daughter or loved one to come home?

Why Do Many Bengalis Eat Non-Vegetarian Food During Durga Puja?
This has been a recurring debate on social media. The reason is simple. When a daughter comes home, we can only celebrate! Durga Puja, like any other Shakti Puja, requires adherence to strict rules and zero tolerance for negligence. However, food customs vary among families and communities. It varies by family, community, and day of the festival. Some eat vegetarian food, observe specific restrictions, eat only traditional bhog offered to Devi Durga, and some even offer fish to Maa Durga. Families and friends from all economic, social, and even religious backgrounds come together, celebrate together, have festive meals including fish and meat, exchange gifts, and spend time with music and art. This is why food stalls selling biryani, fish fry, rolls, cutlets, and kebabs are common outside large pandals.

My Childhood Memories of Durga Puja
As children, my sister and I eagerly waited for Durga Puja every year. Our endless discussions revolved around how many new outfits we would receive, how many pandals we would visit, who would read the Durga Puja special children’s magazine first, and how long we could stay at our neighborhood puja pandal. Then we grew up. Work, responsibilities and life took us, and many others like us, away from home.

Fortunately, living away from Bengal does not mean leaving Durga Puja behind. Bengaluru’s large Bengali community celebrates the festival across the city with traditional rituals, themed pandals, cultural programmes and plenty of festive food. For those who miss home, it brings back familiar emotions; for everyone else, it offers a warm and colourful introduction to Bengali culture.

Some Useful Information
Before we start, here is some useful information for you.
How to get around during Durga Puja in Bangalore
Durga Puja pandals are spread across Bengaluru, making them difficult to cover by public transport. Haggling with autorickshaws for fare and route is extremely painful in Bengaluru. Driving your own vehicle is the most convenient option. However, keep in mind that parking spots may be located a little far and get full during peak hours, like Maha Astami evening for big pandals. Alternatively, consider booking an Ola or Uber rental when visiting several pandals in one day; individual rides may take an obnoxious amount of waiting time and fare.
Dates of Durga Puja 2026

Ektara Socio-Cultural Organisation has been organizing Kengeri Sarbojonin Durgotsav and Navratri. Their main attraction is the themed pandal. This puja is one of our personal favourites.
In 2024, we stumbled upon this hidden gem. The only high-concept theme puja in Bengaluru!!! The theme was “Durga – The Rising”. It showcased the plights of women of different ages, communities, and places, and how they try to fight back and demand justice. The idols were made in a tribal setup. The contrast that 2 young boys (representing Kartik and Ganesh) playing happily while 2 young girls (representing Lakshmi and Saraswati) being disturbed by a man while playing shows the sad reality of today’s world. Maa Durga was seen protecting her children. Sadly, there were just 10 more people when we visited it on Nabami afternoon. I understand the location is far from the center of the city. The theme, pandal decoration deserves a decent amount of footfall.
Unfortunately, they are yet to announce any event details for Durga Puja in 2026. Their social media page has not been updated since 2024.
